Historical Review

Iran has been through a turbulent period in its history.  Political upheaval, revolution and war and the accompanying disruptions have had a negative impact on many species of wildlife. Particularly impacted have been the larger mammals that have a more difficult time re-adapting. The human population has also grown at an accelerated rate throughout the country, putting a tremendous strain on natural resources and as an extension on open land, sources of food and available water.  Unfortunately, wildlife conservation has not been a significant priority.
